Tonight, fulfill your SSR by reading to the end of page 48.
Wednesday: Tonight, fulfill your SSR by reading to the middle of page 52 (where the natural break is).
Thursday: Finish reading chapter 3 so you can be fully prepared for our first roundtable literature discussion tomorrow. Know that tomorrow’s discussion will be a formative assignment. You will be prepared if you have read the text closely and annotated it to answer these questions:
Friday: This weekend, fulfill your SSR by reading chapter 4, The Black Thing. Be sure to annotate for new characters and rising actions. Also remember that next week, two of you will create the discussion questions for next Friday's discussion. If you think of any interesting questions, note them down.

- What are the main characters’ flaws? How do predict these flaws will contribute to the character’s journey?
- Who (or what) are Mrs. Whatsit, Who, and Which? How do you know? What do you think their purpose is? (Why did Madeleine L’Engle include them?)
- What foreshadowing exists in the first 3 chapters? From this foreshadowing, what can you predict about the story?
