Tuesday, March 1: Today we will dedicate class to sustained, silent reading (SSR). Remember, to get a 6/6 on your SSR grade for the month, you must have read 100 pages during the month and published a GoodReads review. Your homework, then, is to catch up on SSR and publish a review, in necessary.

Thursday, March 3: Finish answering the comprehension questions about today's informational texts:

Friday, March 4: Vocab journals due!
Finish writing your slam poem. Remember, it must:
- be written in 1st-person to present a personal story of struggle
- be sincere and evocative (bring up strong emotions), usually anger, sadness, betrayal or injustice
- 4 metaphors
- 4 similes
- 4 vocabulary words
- 1 page, minimum
Due Monday for peer edits.
Remember, you will perform one poem next week, and it will be judged according to a panel of judges. You don't have to perform your slam poem, but it might be a good choice if you don't have one picked out already. Also remember that this a summative assignment!
