Let me introduce myself: My name is Ms. Nina, and I am a total nut for literacy skills -- total nut! In fact, my enthusiasm for literacy is exactly why I was recruited by RAS to become the English language learning (ELL) teacher for primary school, grades 1-4. My passion for reading and writing is filled with such genuine energy that former students have often proclaimed me “absolutely bonkers”, but that energy and enthusiasm is also what makes my passion for literacy contagious. It works, and it shows not only in the MAP test scores but also, and more importantly, in the lives of the students who often start to opt for their books over their consoles (if only for a few minutes). I work hard to make these core skills fun -- and thus desirable -- because I deeply believe that literacy is the key to lifelong learning.
