I am turing you into masters of the paragraph! Practice your paragraph writing by writing two paragraphs about the two handouts you read last week: Why Write? and The Business Case for Reading Novels by the Harvard Business Review. You may also include reasons from 10 Benefits of Reading, if you picked up that handout on Thursday.
Remember that:
DUE: Monday, Jan. 20
WORTH: 20 points (10 points per paragraph)
Remember that:
- One paragraph can only take ONE topic. That means that you will write one paragraph about the benefits of writing and one paragraph about the benefits of reading.
- Use the 5-sentence paragraph structure that we've been practicing. That means you will NOT list all the benefits of reading in one paragraph. Instead, you will list only three benefits: one for each example sentence. You may, however, add sentences if they are specific examples, e.g. One benefit of reading is increased focus and memorization. According to the article 10 Benefits of Reading, reading 15 to 20 minutes before school can help a person concentrate better for the rest of the day. (Remember that you may not use my words, but you may use the model your sentence after my example.)
- Keep your sentences simple! No run-on sentences, pretty please.
